Chinese food, thumbs up or down?

My dear niece asked me a question today about the quality of the food here. So here is my review.

Today I was part of a group of 16 adopting families touring Beijing. We were taken for lunch to the duck shop. We had an assortment of food served on a lazy susan. The food was excellent!

Unfortunately, for dinner we ventured across the street to a recommended restaurant. We ordered chicken with mushroom – a dish I usually eat at home. However, in China they apparently put ALL parts of the chicken into the dish – bone, gristle, skin, organs, beaks, claws, etc. Needless to say we had rice for dinner.
